Ronald "Ron" Grimes

Ronald E Grimes (Ron), age 49, formerly of Columbus, Ohio, passed away on 23 September 2022 at his residence in Rutherfordton, NC.

A Celebration of Life and potluck will be held Sunday, the 2nd of October from 5:30pm-8:pm at the Gahanna Sanctuary located at 82 North High Street Gahanna, Ohio 43230.

Ron Grimes was born at Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus, Ohio to Phyllis Darlene Grimes on 15 June 1973.  He attended Hamilton Township School District until 1991 and went on to complete the Sheet Metal Workers apprenticeship program for Int’l Local #24.  He was also quite the handyman and jack of all trades.

Family was always his number one priority whether extended or immediate.

He would bend over backwards to help anyone who needed it. Even to a fault. He was an avid fisher in his off time. But most of all he was a muscle car enthusiast. He was always under the hood of a vehicle. His pride and joy was his 60’s El Camino he had for years.

Ron struggled with sobriety for a number of years. To achieve his goal of sobriety he moved to Rutherfordton, NC in 2011. There he successfully got clean, met his wife, and maintained a home for over a decade. In recent months Ron underwent treatments and grafting for multiple forms of cancer before receiving notice of a possible terminal condition. Sadly, his death was brought on early by a relapse of the substance he worked so hard to avoid.

Ronald Grimes is preceded in death by his Grandparents Gene and Glenna Harless, and Uncle Steve Harless.

Ron Grimes is survived by his wife Brandy Shaw, son Emmett Collins-Grimes (Rob Gorby), stepdaughters Kelsey (Tyler) Osborne and Blakley, mother Darlene Grimes, uncle Russ Harless, older brother Rocky (Cathy) Grimes, younger sisters Andrea and Roxanne (John) Eaton, nieces and nephews Michael, Victoria, Shannon, Christian, Cori, and Julia, great nephew Jhett, and former spouse and mother of his son Shanie
