Michael "Mike" Eugene Wellmon

    Michael “Mike” Eugene Wellmon, age 72, of Shelby, passed away Wednesday, July 12,2023 at White Oak Manor Shelby.

     Mike was born Saturday, November 18, 1950, in Cleveland County to the late Carl Ray Wellmon and Annie Pearl Gantt Wellmon. Mike loved fishing, NASCAR, and the Braves. He was the best friend anybody could ask for. He will be greatly missed by all that knew him.

     In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Dennis and Christopher Wellmon: two sisters, Kathy Barrett, and Joy Gold.

     Those left to cherish his memory include nieces and nephews, James Elmore, Rick Wellmon, Daniel Gold, Jacob Barrett, Patty Bell (Jason), Shelby Towne (Alex); a best friend, Libby Granigan; and several great nieces and nephews.

     There will be a memorial service held at 3:00 pm on Sunday, July 23, 2023, at Cleveland Funeral Services Chapel.
